Facilities and Venues Exchange 8 November 2023 

Agenda items discussed during the meeting. 

• Staff retention, how are you retaining staff both permanent and casual?  What benefits is your Council offering?  

• Difficulty in sourcing skilled staff in both local government and industry. Some councils focusing on promoting internally and building skills. Toowoomba have looked at reducing the recruitment time period to retain interested applicants.   

• Contractor management of cleaning/catering etc – increasing costs of service and how to minimise operating expenses. 

General Discussion 

• Moreton Bay currently in Stage 2 of their hall management review, revised hall management agreements and responsibilities. Also looking at doing a fee review and would be interested to hear from other councils.
